Kuala Lumpur, 16th July 2024 – PMB Tijari Berhad (PMB Tijari), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pelaburan MARA Berhad, today fulfilled its responsibility by paying the company’s business zakat for the year 2023 amounting to RM166,623.00 to the Pusat Pungutan Zakat Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP).

The 2024 Corporate Zakat Presentation Ceremony, organized by PPZ-MAIWP, was held at the Dewan Tun Dr Ismail, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
The business zakat payment by PMB Tijari was handed over by the Chief Executive Officer of PMB Tijari, Puan Norleza Abu Bakar, to the Chief Executive Officer of PPZ-MAIWP, Datuk Abdul Hakim Amir Osman, witnessed by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), YB Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Hj Mohd Na’im Hj Mokhtar. Also present were the Chairman of PPZ-MAIWP, Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin.

According to Puan Norleza Abu Bakar, as a corporate entity under the MARA Investment Group and the auspices of MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd, PMB Tijari continuously strives to fulfill its obligation in paying the company’s business zakat, driven by a shared concern to support the less fortunate.

“This year marks the second year for PMB Tijari to contribute its business zakat to PPZ-MAIWP. Last year, we paid a business zakat of RM100,000.00 for the year 2022,” said Puan Norleza.

She added that PMB Tijari is also committed and aware in executing the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Among the CSR focuses of PMB Tijari are strengthening knowledge, promoting community harmony, and efforts in preserving and restoring the environment. This includes supporting government agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in activities that can be carried out to achieve mutual objectives.

In line with this, the zakat handover program today is part of the planned activities to celebrate PMB Tijari’s 10th anniversary starting from April 2024. Various CSR programs and corporate events will also be held until 31st March 2025 to further strengthen PMB Tijari's brand image in the eyes of the public, as well as to strengthen ties with other stakeholders.
