Kuala Lumpur, 27 March 2024 - PMB Tijari Berhad (PMB Tijari), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pelaburan MARA Berhad, today donated business zakat totaling RM49,000.00 to the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organization (PERKIM) and eight (8) MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Ulul Albab institutions nationwide. This was in conjunction with the Kumpulan Pelaburan MARA 2024 Iftar Ceremony at Wisma PMB earlier today.

The zakat donation was presented by the Chairman of Kumpulan Pelaburan MARA, Dato’ Mohamad Razali Mohamad Rahim, to the Chairman of PERKIM's Dakwah Division in the Federal Territories, Dr. Suariza Hidayah Muhammad, and the Deputy Director (Student Affairs), MARA Secondary Education Division, Encik Meor Mohammad Khaliff Meor Mohamad Omar. Also present were the Group CEO of Pelaburan MARA Berhad, Encik Mahdzir Othman, and the CEO of PMB Tijari, Puan Norleza Abu Bakar.

According to Puan Norleza Abu Bakar, PMB Tijari is committed to carrying out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of the company. This includes focusing on enhancing knowledge empowerment, community development, and efforts to preserve and conserve the environment.

"As a corporate entity under Kumpulan Pelaburan MARA and MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd, PMB Tijari is committed to assisting government agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in any activities that can achieve mutual objectives," said Puan Norleza.

She added that today's event is among the plans outlined in conjunction with PMB Tijari’s 10th anniversary celebration starting in April 2024. Various CSR programs and other corporate events will also be held until 31 March 31 2025, to further strenghten PMB Tijari's brand in the community and foster better relationships between PMB Tijari and other stakeholders.

PMB Tijari has donated RM40,000.00 of business zakat for distribution to eight (8) MRSM Ulul Albab institutions. It aims to be distributed as cash donations to students, especially among the B40 category identified by MRSM, in addition to prizes for excellence in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations and the Tilawah and Hafazan Al-Quran competitions.

The MRSM Ulul Albab recipients are MRSM Kota Putra Terengganu, MRSM Gemencheh Negeri Sembilan, MRSM Kepala Batas Pulau Pinang, MRSM Sungai Besar Selangor, MRSM Semporna Sabah, MRSM ATM Bera Pahang, MRSM Bagan Datuk Perak, and MRSM Felda Trolak, Perak.

Meanwhile, PERKIM also received a business zakat donation totaling RM9,000.00 for the sponsorship of the Mualaf Quran Reading Clinic. This is an effort to support specialized preaching, education, and welfare programs for mualaf asnaf, new Muslims in need of attention and guidance, especially in strengthening their faith programs.
